A. R. Harlacher’s Award was
established by Czech Hydrometeorological Institute to appreciate
persons who significantly contributed to the
of the hydrological service and hydrology itself in the Czech
Republic. It could be given to foreign hydrologist as well for their
contribution to international cooperation in the field of hydrology.
The status of the award
expects that in 2012 (in the year of 170th anniversary of
Harlacher’s birth) several hydrologists (5 to 10) will be awarded
for their work in the second half of 20th century. For
coming years the award will be highly prestigious with expected long
term frequency of one laureate per year.
Laureates are selected by A.R.
Harlacher Award Committee chaired by the head of
hydrological service of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
Members of the Committee are director of the CHMI, Director of Water
Research Institute T.G.M., chair of National Comity for Hydrology
(UNESCO) and last awarded person. Any Committee member or any
institution or organization working in the field of hydrology may
nominate candidates for A.R. Harlacher Award.
The award is represented with
a bronze medal (see the attached pictures). Medal was designed in
competition among students of Coin and medal artistic school in
Jablonec nad Nisou and the winning design comes from Ms. Aneta
Andreas Rudolf Harlacher
